Those were the tweets that lead to a text to her cousin that said, "Call 911." Alarmed, her cousin entered the home and witnessed the sound of the gunshot that took the life of 15 year old Asya Patton.

The details of the activities leading to the suicide are not clear, and there are different theories and rumors floating around about the cause of the suicide. Many say Asya was the victim of cyber bullying.  Several incidents (dating back to an incident that occured April 7, 2012) that support the theory, but nothing is official.
The Asya Patton Project will operate as a motivational and support group for not only teens, but for parents as well.  We will launch The Asya Patton Project nationally with our Inaugural Asya Patton Social Media Day, Monday, December 17, 2012.  Monday we are encouraging everyone to send a single tweet, "End Cyber Bully, Support "TheAsyaPattonProject". The goal of the campaign is to bring national awareness to the effects of cyber bullying and teen suicide.
